Home Improvement Loan Program ...

Through a grant from the Springfield-Greene County Senior Citizens' Fund, senior citizens (age 60 and over) that occupy the home which they own, and live in the UNA footprint, can borrow up to $10,000 interest free for rehabilitation of their home.  An additional $15,000 is available at 3% APR interest rate if more work needs to be done.  Income guidelines do apply and are listed below.  Call the UNA office at 865-4774 for more details.  Click on the link below for a copy of the senior brochure.

The Urban Neighborhoods Alliance has a below-market home improvement loan program for residents in the UNA footprint.  With the help of a City of Springfield buy down of an already reduced rate loan, home improvements can be made on their homes with this 3% APR loan. With the low interest loan, you can:
     --Paint the interior or exterior of your home;
     --Add new siding;
     --Replace garage doors or storm doors;
     --Repair or replace a porch;
     --Repair or replace the roof;
     --Replace gutters;
     --Install new windows;
     --Add air conditioning or replace a furnace;
     --Make electrical or plumbing improvements;
     --Replace carpeting;
     --Update kitchen or bath; or
     --Install insulation

          3 Persons                                   $55,500
          4 Persons                                   $61,680

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
    --You can borrow between $2,500 and $25,000
    --You must live within the Urban Neighborhoods Alliance boundaries.
    --You must own and occupy the property to be improved, as your principal residence.
     --You must have good credit history and have the ability to repay the loan.
     --Your county property tax payments must be current.
     --You must comply with all applicable city permits and inspections.
     --All contractors must be licensed.
