A partnership has been established to enhance Springfield's community trees. The City of Springfield's goal is to develop and maintain our community forest. By partnering with the citizens of Springfield, especially through its neighborhoods, together these valuable assets can be rejuvenated and enhanced. Click below for information on the Neighbor Woods program.

Click below for a partial list of the trees that are available for the 2007-08 tree planting schedule. Please note the trees that are either prone to surface roots and/or susceptible to ice storm weather. Residents may want to steer away from these species.

The City of Springfield has developed a program designed to preserve and enhance the quality of life in Springfield's neighborhoods. The program, Neighborhood Teams, is a service provided to registered neighborhood associations with the purpose of facilitating communication between City employees and neighborhood residents. The City of Springfield has limited funding for downpayment and/or closing cost assistance for qualified first-time homebuyers through the American Dream Downpayment Initiative (ADDI). Click on the City of Springfield logo below for more information.

2009-10 Urban Neighborhoods Alliance Work Plan
The Brownfields Program, through the City of Springfield, works to assess, clean up, and facilitate the redevelopment / reuse of potentially contaminated properties known as "brownfields" within the city of Springfield. The program is coordinated through the Economic Development Office in the Department of Planning and Development and works in cooperation with Region 7 of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
